I am a Los Angeles-based artist and have been sculpting for over 25 years. I carve in small and miniature forms because I believe sculpture is meant to be touched by human hands. I think there is something so wonderful about sculpture that can be held and carried. Connection and embodiment are at the core of what I explore and convey in my work.

I am a self-taught sculptor, who began my journey devoting countless hours in my studio basement studying anatomy drawings to create sculptures in clay. Drawn to the sensuality of bronze and classic sculpture, I also learned early on the ancient, lost wax method for casting bronze sculpture. This type of casting is centuries old and extremely labor-intensive. It taught me an even deeper respect and love for craft and bronze itself.

In my studio, you will find anatomy drawing books by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci,  pounds of clay, a map of the world’s bird migrations, tacked-up poems that inspire me and dental tools that delicately craft the minute details into my pieces.

When Jamie originally asked me to sculpt an item for this project, I was deeply honored she trusted me with her vision to create a work that provides comfort, expresses companionship and ultimately gives back to those in need. “Together” is the first in a small series made specifically for My Hand In Yours, LLC. My hope is that this sculpture serves as a talisman of connection, a symbol of love, and a tangible reminder that we are not alone on our journey through life.

Anne believes in the preservation of both small businesses and the environment. She uses small foundries in the US that adhere to US environmental standards. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The Huffington Post, InStyle, The L.A.Times, California Home Design (Trina Turks Picks), and OUT Magazine.
